Olympics 2012
The last ECJ rulings and the London Olympics.
Great Britain's organisation for the 2012 Olympics in London is under threat in terms of deadlines as far as construction works are concerned. The construction sector is naturally sensitive to all kinds of potential abuse, as far as wages, working conditions, implementation of collective bargaining, respect of health and safety regulations, etc. due to these deadlines.
That is why it is of the utmost importance that Trade Unions (not only British ones) are given the chance to enter into dialogue with the ODA* and LOCOG** to secure collective agreements on labour standards. Some Trade Union members are already taking part in the ODA Committees, like Barry Camfield, for Unite.
Making sure that the next Olympics are a success not only for the Companies but also for all the European workers who will be involved, is important to us. So, any Olympics related matters will also be posted on this website!
